International Assurance, Inc., was formed in 1988 by Lytis A. Davis, Jr. in conjunction with International Industries, Inc., a diversified, privately held company, to acquire insurance agencies or companies. International Assurance, Inc. was the result of the combination of The Wend Agency, Inc. and Grove Insurance, Inc. The Wend Agency, Inc. was a Mobile-based contractor oriented agency which had served the needs of the construction industry in south Alabama since 1978. Grove Insurance, Inc. was a general insurance agency representing a number of quality insurance companies and had served the Mobile area marketplace since 1972. Lytis A. Davis, Jr. acquired total ownership of the agency from International Industries, Inc. in October 1996.

International Assurance, Inc. enjoys the reputation of being one of the most innovative and aggressive agencies in the southeast. Recognizing the opportunities which exist in Baldwin County, Alabama, J.R.H. Insurance Services, Inc., located in Foley, Alabama, was acquired in May 2001 to provide a local presence in this high growth area. J.R.H. Insurance Services, Inc. has operated successfully in south Alabama with a specialty in serving the transportation industry.

International Assurance, Inc. has brought together a uniquely qualified combination of highly skilled insurance specialists. Our officers and senior management team have come from underwriting and management positions with major insurance companies, large national brokerage firms and local independent agencies. By operating in the insurance marketplace in the Southeast for many years, our employees and officers have established strong relationships with most of the leading domestic and international insurance markets. Based upon information available to us, we believe International Assurance, Inc. is the largest insurance agency/brokerage operation in the Mobile area. As members of several national trade associations, International Assurance, Inc. has established close relationships with other insurance agencies throughout the United States who can be utilized to service our clients’ needs nationwide. These memberships also give us direct access to the reinsurance marketplace and other sources for alternative risk transfer.

Our Marine Division services the needs of customers on the Atlantic and Gulf Coasts, in addition to many accounts operating on the inland water systems flowing to the Gulf of Mexico. The clients of our Marine Division include shipyards and their related operations, commercial fishing fleets, offshore crew and supply boats, and some of the leading tug and barge operations of the inter-coastal and inland water systems of the Southeast.

We have earned an excellent reputation working with leading domestic underwriters and syndicates. We have also been particularly effective in the use of the marine facilities of the London market. Our use of this network of underwriters has enabled us to arrange comprehensive coverage programs at very competitive rates.

International Assurance, Inc. continues to emphasize Personal Lines. Contracts are in place with several companies who offer very competitive Personal Lines products.

Our existing company representations and a highly trained service-oriented Personal Lines staff should enable our Personal Lines Division to continue to make a contribution to our future growth.

Through the facilities of the leading surety bond underwriters, International Assurance, Inc. serves the contract bonding needs of many general and specialty contractors in south Alabama. As members of the National Association of Surety Bond Producers, we stay abreast of the changes taking place in the bond market. Our expertise in the miscellaneous surety areas has resulted in law firms using our facilities for their court bonds.

This system is supplemented by additional data processing capabilities and utilization of the Internet. This commitment to automation enables us to process our accounts efficiently and to communicate effectively with our clients.

Our Accounting Department has been structured to meet the needs of both our customers and the insurance companies we represent. We utilize various finance compaines to finance the premiums of our customers with special payment requirements. We can use this premium finance facility to customize a cash flow program for our clients.
