International Assurance, Inc., was formed in 1988 by Lytis A. Davis, Jr. in conjunction with International Industries, Inc., a diversified, privately held company, to acquire insurance agencies or companies. IAI was the result of the combination of The Wend Agency, Inc. and Grove Insurance, Inc. The Wend Agency, Inc. was a Mobile-based contractor oriented agency which had served the needs of the construction industry in south Alabama since 1978. Grove Insurance, Inc. was a general insurance agency representing a number of quality insurance companies and had served the Mobile area marketplace since 1972. Lytis A. Davis, Jr. acquired total ownership of the agency from International Industries, Inc. in October 1996.

IAI enjoys the reputation of being one of the most innovative and aggressive agencies in the southeast. Recognizing the opportunities which exist in Baldwin County, Alabama, J.R.H. Insurance Services, Inc., located in Foley, Alabama, was acquired in May 2001 to provide a local presence in this high growth area. J.R.H. Insurance Services, Inc. has operated successfully in south Alabama with a specialty in serving the transportation industry.

IAI has brought together a uniquely qualified combination of highly skilled insurance specialists. Our officers and senior management team have come from underwriting and management positions with major insurance companies, large national brokerage firms and local independent agencies. By operating in the insurance marketplace in the Southeast for many years, our employees and officers have established strong relationships with most of the leading domestic and international insurance markets. As members of several national trade associations, IAI has established close relationships with other insurance agencies throughout the United States who can be utilized to service our clients’ needs nationwide. These memberships also give us direct access to the reinsurance marketplace and other sources for alternative risk transfer.
